China visa-free policy

china visa

Q:
We are Austrian citizens with Austrian passport. We are going to travel to HongKong and China (Peking and Shanghai) in August.
There seems to be no Visa for Hong Kong.
I know that we do not need a visa if we stay max 15 days ins China.
Is this correct?

A:
Yes, As Austrian citizens, you do not need a visa for Hong Kong for stays up to 90 days. For mainland China (including Beijing and Shanghai), Austrian passport holders can generally enjoy visa-free entry for up to 15 days under the visa waiver policy for tourism purposes.

To further facilitate cross-border travels, China will adopt a unilateral visa-free policy for Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg from 14 March 2024 to 30 November 2024. Ordinary passport holders from the above-mentioned countries may enter China visa-free for business, tourism, family visit or transit for no more than 15 days. Those who do not meet the visa-free policy requirements from the six countries still need to obtain visas before entering China.
